One of the best kids summer activities is to take them swimming. The local pool will have many activities that your children can participate in. A lot of pools set up summer activities that kids will enjoy. They do not just have open swim the whole time. The activities can vary from water basketball to synchronized swimming and water games such as marco polo. There are usually a wide variety of activities for all ages of swimmers. Do you remember when you were a kid and someone gave you a container of bubbles. If you were anything like me I blew through the whole container that same day. Bubbles are one of the greatest summer activities for kids. You are no longer just stuck with the little wands to blow bubbles with. You can spend part of your time getting ready with the kids making bubble wands. You can use wire coat hangers to make different shapes to blow bubbles through. You can even use bigger things to blow bubbles like a hula-hoop. Now I know what you are thinking what am I going to dip a hula-hoop into and where am I going to get that much bubble solution. Well both of those are very easy to solve issues. You can get a kids wading pool cheaply at the store. That will give you a big enough container to dip even a hula-hoop into.
The next step is to get some dishwashing detergent, water, and glycerin. You are going to mix these together to make the bubble solution. You can purchase glycerin and most drug stores and even some grocery stores. If you cannot find the glycerin you can still make it work without it. Now that you have the ingredients you can make one gallon of bubble solution with this recipe. Use one gallon of water, 2/3 of a cup of detergent, and 1 tablespoon of glycerin. Mix all of these together thoroughly. If you make this the day before and let it sit the bubbles will be stronger and you will be able to make bigger bubbles. Now that you have your mixture ready it is time for the best part of bubble summer activities for kids.
Last get all of the kids together with their wands for a bubble-blowing extravaganza. If you have a video camera you may want to get it out. This could make for a fantastic summer tape. The hula-hoop is one of my favorite tools. Dip it in to the mixture and pull it up where you can see a thin film inside of it. Now hold it up and pull it through the air. This is a lot of fun for the smaller kids because they can run and make bubbles. By the time you are finished everyone will agree that bubbles are one of the greatest summer activities for kids.

Summer has arrived and you and your friends are running out of things to do. You have already done all of the traditional things like backyard barbeques and trips to the beach. Now what you really need is some new things to do in the summer with friends. If your friends enjoy backyard barbeques they probably enjoy being outside. That is what summer is all about good weather, good friends, and good times. You can get all of your friends together and you can all go camping. If you have a state or national park local to you there are a lot of activities there for you to do. Hiking on the trails can be a great way to spend the day or even the weekend depending on the amount of trails that they have at the park. Your local park may also have caves to explore or interesting sights to enjoy. Some parks have naturally occurring entertainment like yellow stone national park and the geysers. When you pull into the park there should either be an information station there with someone you can speak to or there will be pamphlets to show you all of the trails and things to do in the park. If your local park is on the water or has a large body of water in it there may be other outdoor summer activities there. They may rent canoes, kayaks, tubes, or paddleboats. All of these can be a great way to see the park from another perspective. Some parks across the country even have water caves that can be canoed or kayaked through. Canoeing or kayaking is also a very peaceful way to enjoy nature. Most of the time as long as you are not talking loudly wildlife will not run away from you. Since there is no engine on your watercraft there is no loud noise to spook them.
When you head to the park for outdoor summer activities there are a few things to remember. You should make sure to not only wear sunscreen but to pack it with you for later application. You may also want to bring a small cooler of drinks and food depending on how long you are staying. Some parks do not have a place to sell these things to you. Also you should bring your camera and extra batteries to take pictures. You never know when the experience of a lifetime is going to happen to you. Having your camera ensures that you have a lasting memory of it.

There are usually a wide variety of them in every area. While most festivals are free if the festival is at your local fairgrounds there may be a charge. Be sure to check in advance.

If you do not have any museums in your area you can also check with your local chamber of commerce. They may be able to give you a list of businesses in the area that offer free things to do in the summer. They usually also have a calendar that you may be able to check online or that they can give you a printed copy of to take with you. No matter where you are located there is always something to do during the summer for free.

If this is a question you are pondering the answer is yes. Maine is a fantastic summer vacation destination. There are a variety of things to do in Maine in summer. You should put a trip to York Beach, Maine on your list. York beach is definitely a tourist vacation spot in Maine but it has a local homey feel to it. The beach lines are gorgeous with the ocean crashing onto the rocks and sand. They also have a small arcade there right on the beach. The nostalgia of the place will just take you back in time. It is very easy to see why people fall in love with York Beach.
While you are in the York beach area you should really go and see Nubble light, which may be the prettiest lighthouse in America. York Beach is also home to Maine’s largest zoo. You can see lions and tigers, which seem very out of place in a beach town. It all just adds to the great experience of York Beach. If you head into town you can visit America’s oldest jail. You may be surprised by what a jail used to look like. The tour guides will explain a lot of the jail to you and even tell you a few interesting stories that you can take home with you.
Of all of the things to do in Maine in summer it would be a disservice to not mention the food. One great experience to be had is eating a lobster roll sitting on a giant rock looking across at Nubble Light. There is a shack in the parking lot that serves the best lobster rolls. If you have never tried a lobster roll you should give it a go. Back in town there is a restaurant that has a soda fountain and a taffy pull in the window. They have the best clam chowder on the beach. Be careful though large quantities of the food in York beach will not only fill your stomach but may add a few pounds along the way. There are many other things to see in York beach and the surrounding areas. The locals will be happy to point you to places of interest in the area. The people, the food, and the sights are what make York Beach one of the best places in Maine to visit. Once you experience it for yourself you will feel the same way.
